Theatre

Alex Fernie Audio started out as a sound provider to local theatre companies Macnas and Druid and I’m proud of the small part we played in their many award-winning productions over the years. As well as international touring companies such as Druid and Rough Magic Theatre Company, Alex Fernie Audio is always willing to operate within budget constraints for new, innovative fringe theatre groups, supplying equipment and technical staff. We also service many amateur and local musical theatre groups as well as local educational institutions and drama academies. We continue to be the audio hire company of choice for many of Ireland's leading dance and theatre companies, supplying audio systems, sound crew and sound designers for award-winning shows. Through our work with the Galway Arts Festival and Galway's Town Hall Theatre we have provided audio systems and sound crew to some of the world's foremost theatre and dance companies.

Sound Design

Over the years, I’ve worked on sound designs for Druid (The Walworth Farce) and Macnas (Grainne Mhaol). We can supply tailored sound effect CD’s with productions and cueing systems. We’re also willing to advise on speaker placement on stage for special effects. I’ve even built wireless special effects for some shows. I know how theatre is more than just showing up for a gig, so we’re always willing to consult for free on pre-production as part of a job and always factor in technical rehearsals as part of the deal.

Musical Theatre

We carry a large stock of high quality UHF wireless equipment from Sennheiser. We carry both lapel and headset mics from Sennheiser. We also stock a range of miniature shotgun mics from Sennheiser for ambient or choir microphones. Naturally with our experience in the live music field, we stock a range of instrument mics for the orchestra. All digitally controlled for accurate cueing. And remember, with our NEXO GEO S12 speaker system, we can cater for theatre audiences of up to 2000 people.
